Big Apple, Little Baby

Today was Tiger’s first trip into the City and I think he did pretty well. We wanted to make this a quick trip since the weather has been extremely hot as of late, and since we didn’t want to come back too late in the evening (and cause we’re finally getting the keys to our rental townhome tomorrow morning!).

We successfully took the train in Union to Newark Penn Station, then took the PATH to the World Trade Center station. Tiger did great with train rides, but refused to sit very long in his stroller once we got off the trains (my guess is that he was really hot sitting in the stroller).

After getting into the city, we were able to meet both Auntie Sharon and Uncle Bill for lunch in Chinatown to eat some dumplings. Too bad I forgot that we had our camera with us, or else I would’ve taken a picture of Tiger with them. After meeting with them for lunch, we all walked around Chinatown for about an hour (and even stopped to buy some banh mi, sugarcane water, logan, and guava!!!). It was definitely nice to see them again after so long, and definitely nice to know they live such a short distance away from us.

If it wasn’t so hot, we probably could’ve stayed longer, but the trip was well worth it, as we got to meet with family, finally eat some good Chinese food, buy some produce, and get to see the city a bit. I’m sure we’ll be back here sooner than we think, so today was a great way to slowly introduce Tiger to all that NYC has to offer.

Wait, we’re going where today? I just want to stay home and play with my blanket!

Dada! Don’t take a picture of me sneezing!

Yes! Finally something that’s not hot and humid!

I thought we came here to eat dumplings, what’s with the hot dog?

Riding on trains is fine as long as I have my cup of ice water.

This place wears me out.

Bath Time Means Naked Time

My mama never lets a chance go by to take a naked picture of me. Bath time always equals naked time, but it’s okay because I smell good afterwards and my mama and dada tells me that I sleep well afterwards too.

Eat, Eat, Eat

My mama and dada loves to eat, eat, eat (although the food isn’t that great in NJ so far). Because they love to eat, I love to eat too! Sometimes my mama lets me play with my food, while at other times, my dada lets me eat my Taggie elephant (but I like eating his trunk instead of the tags that I’m suppose to eat).

Priceless

$3 per hot dog, $4 per 16 oz Yuengling beers, $5 per visit to Dunkin Donuts, $20 per Panera lunch….not paying a professional barber $15 for your only child’s 1st haircut…PRICELESS! (hey, hey, hey! I called the barber and he said that Tiger was a little on the young side. I took that as, “please don’t bring him in”, so, I didn’t. So there :P)

In case you forgot how Tiger used to look like, here’s Tiger at his finest

And now here’s Tiger in all his glory…and yes, he now looks like a boy

WAIT Mama…are my bangs straight?

America’s Birthday

As we celebrated not only our first July 4th outside of California, we celebrated our first with our little Tiger. Seeing we were still new to the area, we didn’t want to get trapped in the traffic mess that is the Jersey Shore, the Hudson River, or anywhere else that involved a ton of tourists or a ton of driving. Instead, we focused this weekend (a 4-day weekend) on getting to know areas surrounding Parsippany and finding as many good eats we possibly could in a few days.

For the fireworks show, we decided to go Summit, which is the town that I work in. When we arrived at the park (around 6pm-ish), we weren’t sure if we came to the right place, as the place was pretty empty. Besides the millions of bugs (gnats, flying ants, etc.), there were only a few of us claiming our spots on the wet-grassed, park grounds. After a quick run to the local Walgreens to get bug spray (yes, it was that bad), the park filled up considerably and we were entertained by a local oldies band (damn, how old are we?). The rest is in the pictures…

Um, is the festival today, or did it already happen a couple of days ago and nobody updated the flyer?

I’m smiling right now because I don’t feel the bugs yet…~Tiger

Okay, I need more than a hat and a long sleeve shirt to get these bugs from attacking me…Dada, go get me some bug spray! ~Tiger

Now, this is more like it.

Let the show begin!

Are you really watching this dada? ~Tiger

You guys kept me awake for this? A lot of loud noises and some bright lights? I’m still mad about the bugs. ~Tiger
