2-month Checkup and Vaccines

Ryland just had his 2-month checkup and a vaccine shot yesterday and he now weighs a nice, 11.5 pounds.  At the 1-month checkup, he was in the 9 pound range, so he’s definitely growing.  He was 21 inches long at 1-month and is now at 22.5 inches long.  Our vaccine schedule is pretty steady, so he just got an oral vaccine and one shot at this visit.  He took the shot pretty well (cried for about 10 seconds), then seemed to forget about it.

We had a busy day yesterday, as we took him to my work yesterday after his doctor’s appointment, but he managed to behave really well, despite being extremely tired.  He actually slept for over 2 hours (in a row) last night, proving how tired he really was.  We’re now getting ready to head to San Diego for the weekend…hopefully it doesn’t rain.

Has it really been 8-weeks already?

Welcome to Ryland’s website!  Both Pia and I are going to try and keep this site updated as much as Ryland will let us.  We hope to share pictures and videos of him to all our family and friends that only get to see him a few days a year, if not less.  For now, I’ve uploaded a few slideshows in the “Tiger Pics” area for everyone to view.

Nearly 8-weeks have gone by since Ryland was born on November 7th and both Pia and I can’t thank our friends and family enough for the help they’ve given us.  He poops, eats, and sleeps, then does it all over again, day after day…night after night.  I’d like to think that Pia and I have learned a lot in the last 8-weeks, but I have a feeling we’re barely getting started.  We hope you enjoy the website and can share it with other family members that we don’t have emails for.  Keep checking back from time to time to see updated pictures…I’m pretty sure I’ll be saying, “has it really been 1-year already?” in no time.

Dinner Detour

There aren’t many things better on a Sunday night when you’re driving back home, then taking a quick detour off Dana Point and up PCH to find some good eats. While almost approaching Dana Point, Pia, with the help of a quick Internet search, found a great place for us to stop by and sit down for a nice dinner. We’ve gone by Salt Creek Grille before (in 2009), but didn’t stop by to eat. This time around, we weren’t especially hungry, but knew we needed to get something before we got home. Plus, our weekends are usually jammed packed with errands and stuff, so it’s a nice getaway.

Once we got there, the restaurant is what you’d expect to find in the Dana Point/Monarch Beach area (rich people, nice atmosphere). The food itself was pretty good and the service wasn’t bad either. Our appetizer, a crab-cake like thing with bell peppers, avocado, and cucumbers served over quinoa, was excellent. Next up on the menu was a lobster bisque. The bisque itself was good, but could used a bit more lobster chunks. The pork chop that I ordered (Zagat rated “Best Pork Chop on the Planet”) was unbelievable and is a must-try (can’t recommend it enough). Pia’s miso salmon was good, but the vegetables needed some work. The dessert (chocolate-chip bread pudding) that accompanied the salmon and the bisque (as part of a prix fixe meal) was just average at best. All-in-all, we had good food, good atmosphere, and best of all, it was a great way to cap-off the labor day weekend with just the three of us.

29 Weeks, 5 Days

Here’s a slightly outdated shot of Pia and Tiger. Tiger has been growing much faster as of late and should be around 3 lbs by now. We have another scheduled doctor’s visit soon, so we’ll get a better guesstimate after that.

Mission Accomplished, Pilot Found

After months of searching (since May), we finally found a Pilot that we liked, at a reasonable price. We finally got this Pilot at Sierra Honda in Monrovia (it was the 3rd dealership that we visited). After unsuccessful trips to the Honda dealership in Cerritos (and an overall unbelievable experience), and the Toyota dealership in Hollywood, we were able to get our car, only 2 months away from Tiger’s due date. The price was reasonable, not spectacular, but I didn’t feel ripped off after leaving. The piece of mind of getting a fair rate goes a long way when you’re making those stupid payments. Glad to have this done with…now we can use this car on our trips to San Diego….and other places!

Not as Hard as it Seems, With a Little Help

We just finished registering (the bulk of our items), at Babies r’ Us this weekend. Thanks to the help of Val, Tom, and Evan, we were able to get most of everything registered. From the stroller, to the wiper warmers, we managed to complete everything in about 3 hours or so. I’m sure it would’ve taken far longer without their help…so thank you to them! We’ll still need to register at Target for some additional items (cause not everyone lives near a Babies r’ Us), so that’ll be next on our ‘to-do’ list. Maybe I’ll register for my favorite items at Target (409, Lysol, and Dryel) so I can get some cools things too. Ah, too bad the NFL season starts in a week and a half…I should’ve done the registry sooner and added a Fantasy Football magazine to the registry so I don’t have to buy one this weekend. Stupid, stupid, stupid!

Need a link to our registry?, here it is (Registry #45887822)
