Um, What Had Happened Was…

Life got in the way. Work got in the way. Video games got in the way (not really), but you get the point. What once was a site that we used to update our family with what we were doing in NJ, quickly became a site where I’d be lucky if I could bulk-upload a ton of pictures so that it can help me jog my memory in times where I couldn’t remember what month or year we went to Disneyland. To be fair though, living close to our family made this site less relevant, at least for now. The hope still remains that one day, our little Tiger and our baby Horse will be able to go onto the World Wide Web (how archaic does that sound?) and be able to look at unforgettable memories that inevitably were forgotten.

For 2017, since I’m missing the better part of 8 months or so, I plan to split-up the memories between this site and our Baby Horse’s site. 2018 has already started and has taken off, leaving me at least another 3 months behind. Ugh, what had happened was…

Going to the park is always great. With video games quickly becoming the entertainment of choice with the kids, we have to do a better job of letting them run around and get dirty.

Thanks to the kid’s loving Aunt, we were able to take a trip to Las Vegas. While the kids were hanging out, Mommy and Daddy got to sneak away and see Babyface (yes, he’s still performing). We made it up to the kids by seemingly spending the rest of the trip at Gameworks.

I can’t remember if this was a Father’s Day or Mother’s Day gift, so I’ll say it was for Father’s Day. Seeing that it’s dated for 2016, I’m not sure why I never got around to taking a picture of it until 2017?

Our annual vacation to the Fair last year included their Uncle Ben as a special guest (although if you ask him, I don’t think he’ll ever go again)

Goofy

Loving

Mad

Happy

This is our annual, annual Fair trip to the OC Fair. This special trip included a visit to some ice cream joint with their cousins (because clearly, they needed more sugary stuff in their bodies).

I’m definitely my own person, living with my own set of rules

Last, but not least, our Little Tiger started Kindergarten last year (and yes, he was in desperate need of a haircut)

Labor of Love

La.bor Day (noun)
a public holiday or day of festivities held in honor of working people

We definitely deserve a Labor Day or two. As the kids get older, work (our careers and our real jobs of taking care of the kids), seem to get tougher and more abundant. On this bright September day, we decided to visit a place we hadn’t been before. We decided to go to the Pasadena Kidspace Children’s Museum. From the website, it seems to be a smaller version of Liberty Science Center, but with more outdoor activities (we are in California after all).

Considering this was a last minute day-trip, I’d consider it pretty successful. Both kids tried the different activities, both kids ate fairly well, both kids only got semi-dirty, and both parents were able to not lose their cool. In total, this was a recipe good enough for us to purchase a year-long membership (yes, we can be suckers sometimes).

In an even trade, we’ll likely alternate this venue with the Natural History Museum to give the kids a nice balance of science, outdoor activities, and flying reptiles. If that doesn’t work, maybe we can all wish for an extra Labor Day next year.

Nothing like making other people work on Labor Day

The Simple Things in Life

It doesn’t get much simpler than climbing, throwing, and riding. What’s not so simple is making sure we take the time to do these things because it means so much to him (and of course to us). Seeing him happy means everything.

Try, Try Again

Now that I’m learning how to write my name, my dada always tells me to keep trying and to never give up. I get frustrated easily, but when I do get to finish whatever I started, I’m super happy.

When I went to the fire station last month, a Fireman let me use the fire hose…but who knew a darn road cone would be so strong? But I kept trying and trying, and eventually I did!

Lightyears Beyond My Dada

With my cousin Keante’s help, I think I can now swim better than my dada. My cousin taught me how to move my arms, kick my legs, and even breathe underwater (although I didn’t try this part yet). Within minutes of practicing, I felt I could literally swim laps around my dada!

Flashback – May 2011-Present

Introducing the inaugural posting of my Flashback series of photos. With each month’s flashback, I’ll comb through the years to try and select pictures that were taken during the specified month and pictures that haven’t been used in previous postings (although I must admit I didn’t go back and check if these were used).
