Winter Came Faster Than a Speeding Chocobo

When we moved to the East Coast, we knew would would experience our first real winter, but snow in October? October? Playoffs? Really, October?

This was our backyard in the morning

This was our backyard just hours later

Being snowfall rookies, we bundled Tiger up and took him to story time at Barnes & Noble. Dressed up in his little tiger outfit, he had no problems with the snow.

Wait mama, so I’m a tiger, wearing a Tigger outfit under another Tiger costume? I’m confused…

We Plan to Holla Back to Turtle Back

What better way is there than to spend a semi-breezy, sunny day in New Jersey than at a zoo? Not only was the zoo affordable by theme-park standards, but they gave away free pumpkins to kids today, so you can’t beat that. Too add to our great fortune, the 49ers had a great victory today against the undefeated Lions (yes, I had to add that in there).

We’re going to the zoo? Wahoo!…wait, what’s the zoo?

My butt itches and I’m surrounded by giant oranges, can someone pick me up?

What kinda zoo has pigs? Are you sure we’re not at the County Fair again?

I need one of these at home to play with!

Dada, he walks funny.

Hmm, what am I suppose to do with this thing?

You guys are holding onto me like this giant orange is going to move…I’m fine, I’m a big boy now.

America’s Birthday

As we celebrated not only our first July 4th outside of California, we celebrated our first with our little Tiger. Seeing we were still new to the area, we didn’t want to get trapped in the traffic mess that is the Jersey Shore, the Hudson River, or anywhere else that involved a ton of tourists or a ton of driving. Instead, we focused this weekend (a 4-day weekend) on getting to know areas surrounding Parsippany and finding as many good eats we possibly could in a few days.

For the fireworks show, we decided to go Summit, which is the town that I work in. When we arrived at the park (around 6pm-ish), we weren’t sure if we came to the right place, as the place was pretty empty. Besides the millions of bugs (gnats, flying ants, etc.), there were only a few of us claiming our spots on the wet-grassed, park grounds. After a quick run to the local Walgreens to get bug spray (yes, it was that bad), the park filled up considerably and we were entertained by a local oldies band (damn, how old are we?). The rest is in the pictures…

Um, is the festival today, or did it already happen a couple of days ago and nobody updated the flyer?

I’m smiling right now because I don’t feel the bugs yet…~Tiger

Okay, I need more than a hat and a long sleeve shirt to get these bugs from attacking me…Dada, go get me some bug spray! ~Tiger

Now, this is more like it.

Let the show begin!

Are you really watching this dada? ~Tiger

You guys kept me awake for this? A lot of loud noises and some bright lights? I’m still mad about the bugs. ~Tiger

Happy New Year

My first ever Chinese New Year eve and New Year’s day celebration was great! For the first time, I met my Auntie Joy who introduced my daddy to my mommy. I love hearing stories how mommy made daddy get her a Starbucks Frappaccino before she would talk to him…HAHA! I’m sure my mommy has a different take on the story, but she was busy getting Chuao that day.
