Um, What Had Happened Was…

Life got in the way. Work got in the way. Video games got in the way (not really), but you get the point. What once was a site that we used to update our family with what we were doing in NJ, quickly became a site where I’d be lucky if I could bulk-upload a ton of pictures so that it can help me jog my memory in times where I couldn’t remember what month or year we went to Disneyland. To be fair though, living close to our family made this site less relevant, at least for now. The hope still remains that one day, our little Tiger and our baby Horse will be able to go onto the World Wide Web (how archaic does that sound?) and be able to look at unforgettable memories that inevitably were forgotten.

For 2017, since I’m missing the better part of 8 months or so, I plan to split-up the memories between this site and our Baby Horse’s site. 2018 has already started and has taken off, leaving me at least another 3 months behind. Ugh, what had happened was…

Going to the park is always great. With video games quickly becoming the entertainment of choice with the kids, we have to do a better job of letting them run around and get dirty.

Thanks to the kid’s loving Aunt, we were able to take a trip to Las Vegas. While the kids were hanging out, Mommy and Daddy got to sneak away and see Babyface (yes, he’s still performing). We made it up to the kids by seemingly spending the rest of the trip at Gameworks.

I can’t remember if this was a Father’s Day or Mother’s Day gift, so I’ll say it was for Father’s Day. Seeing that it’s dated for 2016, I’m not sure why I never got around to taking a picture of it until 2017?

Our annual vacation to the Fair last year included their Uncle Ben as a special guest (although if you ask him, I don’t think he’ll ever go again)

Goofy

Loving

Mad

Happy

This is our annual, annual Fair trip to the OC Fair. This special trip included a visit to some ice cream joint with their cousins (because clearly, they needed more sugary stuff in their bodies).

I’m definitely my own person, living with my own set of rules

Last, but not least, our Little Tiger started Kindergarten last year (and yes, he was in desperate need of a haircut)

(Spring) Breaking the Record for How Much Fun a Kid Should Have

Talk about a busy 7 days. We started our 2017 Spring Break vacation by heading to San Diego so Mommy and Daddy could visit some of their friends, and Little Tiger and Baby Horse was able to hang out with all their cousins.

The fun didn’t stop there as we met up with Little Tiger’s friends for a weekend at Great Wolf Lodge (talk about a lucky kid). Of course, Baby Horse wasn’t left out of the mix, as he had an equally good time floating in the lazy river (over and over and over).

If you think the fun ends there, you could be right…but you’re not. We ended up taking a 3-day adventure to Disneyland and California Adventure. Yes, a vacation with the kids is more of a trip than a vacation, but with everyone on their best behavior, and with over-prepared parents, this weekend was perfect.

To see pictures from Disneyland and California Adventures, please make sure to check out Baby Horse’s website.

It definitely helps that he’s much better at swimming now than last year. He still can’t consistently swim, but hey, who am I to judge?

Definitely not lazy…nothing stops this kid from going in the lazy river.

Now that’s a happy daisy.

A Day Fit for a King

Mufasa had it easy. He only had to show Simba the way of the Pride Lands and didn’t have to split his time with another child. Although no one can argue the joys of having multiple children, spending quality time with each one of them can be challenging. Luckily for us, we relied on Little Horse’s uncle and auntie to save the day.

While on his best behavior (surprisingly) in San Diego, we left Little Horse while we took our Little Tiger to watch the Lion King Musical. Being this was he first musical, he was both excited and a bit scared (mainly during the part where the hyenas corner Simba and Nala in the elephant graveyard). All in all, I think he really enjoyed both the musical itself and more importantly, I think he loved spending some quality time with mom and dad.

Next time around, we’ll try and switch it up and make sure Little Horse gets the same treatment (I’m shaking just thinking about him trying to sit still for hour intervals)

What a Year

It’s been a year. A year from tomorrow was Tiger’s last day at Goddard’s, and to this day, he still speaks of it with a smile on his face, and a bit of sadness in his voice. He misses his friends and teachers, but most of all, I think he misses how much people genuinely liked him for who he was and who he was going to become.

With all the complaining about the NJ weather, bugs, and lack of great food, also came a great enjoyment of family-togetherness and exploration. Of course we won’t miss the hurricanes and blizzards, but we will miss our predictable food runs to Doc’s, the 53 Grill, Carmel Haifa, Mara’s Cafe, Penang, Denville Meat Shop and Arthur’s Tavern. Beyond our weekly trips to Farmer’s markets, Target, Panera, Rockaway mall, Barnes & Noble, and even the public library, few places could surpass the memories that were made when visiting Turtleback Zoo, Liberty Science Center, Princeton, and of course, Cape May.

When we finally made the decision to move, we took everything into account. We knew we’d miss the freedom of being isolationists, but we also knew we’d create new memories for our kids and for our entire family.

It’s been a year. A year of packing, unpacking, and getting settled into a new neighborhood and home. I still don’t think we’re completely settled in yet, but I can feel we’re on the verge of finally feeling comfortable with our routine. For four years, we managed to do our best with what we had, and actually, when you look back at it, it was an unbelievable experience. Not to be outdone, this past year has also been amazing. From going to multiple county fairs, multiple trips to Disneyland and the Long Beach Aquarium, getting a chance to furnish our HOME, and enrolling Tiger in public school…we’ve done more than most people get to do in a few years. Most importantly, and the true reason we moved back, the kids get a chance to experience the countless family functions and daily interactions that we would’ve undoubtedly missed out on while being across the US.

It’s been a year. I forgot my password to this website and only after hours of thinking about it, I finally remembered. It’s been a year, but in actuality, it’s been a journey. We picked up our lives in NJ and moved to CA without knowing where we’d ultimately call home. We now know where home is, but we’ll never forget the time we spent making the most of the Garden State.

After signing on the dotted line and cementing our decision to move, we took one last trip to our favorite NJ place, Cape May. It was an awesome trip and a perfect way to say goodbye.

Happy New Year 2015

Happy New Year to everyone! To kick-off the new year, here are some photos from our recent California trip. As you know, for the first time ever, we took a week and a half long trip to our favorite places in California (San Francisco, Los Angeles, and San Diego). In the week and a half that we had in Cali, we managed to go to the 49ers vs. Chargers game, Cal Academy of Science, Disneyland, Legoland, eat tons of great food, and of course, spend quality time with both our family and friends.

Seeing that our trip yielded hundreds of pictures (closer to a thousand), for this site, I’ll just post our SF trip, and for the rest of the trip, you’ll have to go to our Baby Horse’s site.

Here’s our baby Horse going on his first plane ride. It was a bit tough (4 poops in a 6-hour span, but we managed)

Nothing like a quick visit to Pier 39 to take in the sites. Of course, we also had time to get some much needed ramen before heading to the pier

As the brick says, hopefully we’re starting a new tradition. Next time though, we’ll need to bring a sharpie to add baby Horse’s name as well…

Why Can’t We Move to San Francisco Again?

A few weeks ago, I got to spend time with my Uncle Ben (something that I still talk about today). Just think, if we ever moved to San Francisco, I could hang out with him everyday! It was a great week of fun (with visits to both Cape May and the Zoo), capped off by a trip to the Boardwalk where Dada and Uncle Ben played the grown-up video games that I wasn’t allowed to play.
