Operation DUMBO

From Wikipedia:
Dumbo, an acronym for Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass, is a neighborhood in the New York City borough of Brooklyn. It encompasses two sections: one located between the Manhattan and Brooklyn Bridges, which connect Brooklyn to Manhattan across the East River, and another that continues east from the Manhattan Bridge to the Vinegar Hill area.

From Me:
Dumbo, a way of describing what happens when you completely rely on your GPS to get you to a location, pay for all-day parking, only to find out that you parked on the opposite side of the Hudson River.

We walked across the Brooklyn Bridge. DUMBO. All in the name of getting some food at the Smorgasburg in Brooklyn. Good thing it turned out a great event, great atmosphere, and awesome weather…otherwise, the body aches from all the walking we did would feel even worse right now.

Tiger was inspired by the street performers he saw earlier in the day and decided to do some artwork of his own

Kinda looks like he’s dancing to his own beat, huh?

Our Little Sunshine

Tiger has always been a happy baby, and just to see him smile, makes everyone a bit happier. We expect him to be a good baby most of the time, but in LA, he was a great baby the entire time.

Wait…everyone stop…there’s green grass here…where are we?

Can you believe this is the first time I’ve let anyone paint my face? I think it’s supposed to be an Easter bunny, but you can make an argument that it’s a ball with ears

A Brand New Year

Talk about being busy! I didn’t even realize that the last post that was made was in November. Where did December go? Besides being busy at work, we finally went on our long awaited trip to California. Needless to say, we made the most of this trip…from eating mostly everything that was on our list to eat (see pictures below), to visiting three different theme parks, and of course, spending time with our family and friends. It’s never enough time when we visit California, but for some reason, on this trip, we truly made the most of our time and got every last bit out of it (including a trip to VVC for me!).

Okay, let’s get the obvious out of the way first. We really, really missed California food. Besides not being able to eat at Luscious Dumpling and Dog Haus, we ate everything on our list. I think if we were in California another week, we’d probably gain an additional 5 pounds to what we’d already gained. The sad truth is, we didn’t even take pictures of the other things that we ate…which leads me to believe that we ate way too much.

So the California trip was really broken down into 4 parts. We flew into LA and spent some quality time there until Christmas Eve, then proceeded to San Diego on Christmas day. We stayed in San Diego for a few days, then headed north to Anaheim for 2 days, then back up to LA.

Without a doubt, little Tiger had a blast. From watching his cousin play water polo, jumping off tree stumps in Garden Grove with his friends, to hanging out with his cousins at Sea World and the Zoo, to watching Wreck-it-Ralph again for the millionth time, and from just being around his loved ones, I don’t think he could be any happier.

This is a shot of Tiger having a staring contest with Ollie. Like the 49ers later that night, Tiger lost.

Too bad this picture was taken at Sea World was after Christmas…we could’ve used it for our Christmas card.

Tiger finally gets to see an elephant. We traveled long and far to see this elephant, so I’m glad he got to see it.

Disney time! This was Tiger’s second trip to the Magic Kingdom, but his first in LA!

Since Tiger is the resident Wreck-it-Ralph expert in the family, I was asking him why Ralph can’t live in the penthouse with the rest of the people? Tiger then got to play the Fix-it-Felix game and showed me why Ralph couldn’t live up there.

Our trip to Disney was cut short by an unexpected storm. The Magic Castle was about to start looking not so magical a few minutes after this picture was taken.

Here’s Tiger mapping out what attractions he would like to see the next time we go to Disneyland.

A new revelation during this trip…Tiger loves guitars. I think we really need to start thinking about getting him one. He loves drums as well, but I haven’t seen him so attached to a musical instrument like this before.

The countdown for our next California trip begins! We head back to Cali on May for a wedding in San Diego, so hopefully we’ll get to spend a fair amount of time when we go back. For now, we’ll just start making our must-eat food list for May.

Thank You Cape May I Have Another?

All work and no play is definitely not something that’s recommended. Every now and again, it’s good to relax and take a well-deserved vacation. For our 3rd wedding anniversary (yes, it’s been 3 years already!), we decided to take a trip to the southern most point of New Jersey. We’ve only heard good things about Cape May, but never really had a good chance to go (and because it’s a three hour drive). For our anniversary trip this year, we decided to make the trek so that Tiger could finally play in the beach.

First thing’s first…we needed to book a place to stay. Seeing that Cape May and it’s properties are all pretty old, we decided not to make reservations at a B&B (fearing the worst), but rather opted to go with the Congress Hall hotel which was built in the early 1800s (yes, it’s that old). The hotel was what you’d expect from an older place, but the hotel grounds and prime location to the beach couldn’t be beat.

Tiger’s first chance to really play on the beach. He was noticeably nervous at first, but he eventually got the hang of it

Tiger had so much fun, I’m not even sure he noticed his legs were buried in the sand

You can’t ask for much more than a clean and empty beach

Someone fell asleep about 10 seconds after these pictures were taken

Nothing says vacation like ordering room service and watching the Niners destroy the Jets!

A shot of Congress Hall after a nice dinner at Louisa’s

Even living in California for as long as we’ve lived there, how many times could we say we’ve watched the sunrise from the beach? This was definitely one of the highlights of the trip

Like every great vacation, there comes a time when you have to fill-up the gas tank, drive home, do laundry, and get ready for the next day at work.

Lucky for us, Atlantic City was on the way back!!!

As Awesome As(bury) Expected

What a wonderful, jam-packed day. Although the day didn’t start out too well because of the weather, once my dada drove us to Asbury Park (pronounced ‘ash-berry’ by mama) for their yearly Oysterfest, all was wonderful.

I was very excited to go today because I finally got to meet a cousin of mine from New Jersey! We even got a chance to go to the beach so I could finally play in the sand and water for the first time ever!

~Tiger

I’m not sure why my dada didn’t take a picture of the raw oysters or garlic clams that they ate, but they took a picture of me walking instead

I think I can get used to this beach thing

Is it normally this windy? Maybe a California beach will be less windy

My dada’s explaining to me how I can’t go out there because he can’t swim

Here’s me with my mama and dada! Mama, is it a New Jersey thing to wear jeans to the beach?

High-fiving my new cousin!

Noodles and Giraffes

Two of my favorite things! I got to eat (after waiting in line for a long time) noodles and I got to see giraffes last weekend. My mama and dada dragged me to a dumpling house, but I did get to try a lot of new things at the restaurant.

Afterwards, my dada got lost in the Bronx, but finally found his way to the zoo. If we would’ve gotten lost any longer, we would’ve had to ask for directions from Jenny from the block.
